Founder and Principal Architect, CK Architects
Founded in 2018 by Chathurika Kulasinghe, CK Architects operates on the belief that architecture goes beyond physical structures—it’s about creating immersive spatial experiences. Chathurika, born in Colombo in 1986, graduated from the City School of Architecture and earned her Master’s degree from the University of the West of England, Bristol, in 2012. She became an Associate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) in 2014 after completing her professional qualifications.
Before establishing CK Architects, Chathurika spent 10 years practicing at MMGS Architects, honing her skills and refining her craft. Her first solo project, The Lateral Infill, a residential renovation, earned the SLIA Design Award - Merit in 2017, a pivotal achievement that positioned CK Architects as a forward-thinking and innovative design practice.
CK Architects embraces a design philosophy that blends tropical elements, minimalism, and simplicity. The firm places great emphasis on using carefully selected, locally sourced materials that bring a modern rustic appeal, adding warmth and texture to their spaces. Their designs balance raw, earthy elements with clean lines and subtle finishes, occasionally highlighted with vibrant pops of color. This thoughtful approach allows CK Architects to create spaces that are not only functional but also emotionally resonant and timeless.
